Setting up a home based business doesn't have to be communications in business, expensive or time consuming. When you decide to make your living working from home, you simply need to go through a basic set up process to ensure you are ready.

OK, but what about the "when?" How does when you make one of your impressions matter? Here's where I've learned to appreciate the notion asymmetry. An example: Remember when your kid appeared as the third tree from the left in the second-grade pageant? Remember how "exit stage left" for everybody else somehow suddenly became "exit stage right" for your little one? Remember how you noticed? The same applies in business two way radios.

Think about it. Does your mind wander when listening to someone talk? Only a part of our mind power is set aside to pay attention to someone who is talking. When others are talking, it's fairly safe to say that we often think of something else. This is particularly the case if we're not particularly interested in what we're hearing. This can be a major problem when it comes to communications in business.

Phone Greeting. You do not need to answer your telephone each time it rings. Your telephone can be a great asset to your team. Set your voice message so it announces your business name and hours of operation. This will let callers know when you are in the office. Do not let family or friends answer your business comms with a "Hi" or "What's up".

When I first learned of this golden rule it changed my website totally. I went from talking about my business and products on the site to talking directly to my customers and putting things across communication technology a way which meant most to THEM. It also made me take a step back and re-draft all my corporate literature adopting this same YOU principle. But the story doesn't end there..

TalkSwitch Ts-600: A reasonably priced phone if you're looking for something to get done. I love the design on this one. I has a context menu, as well as Softkey access to TalkSwitch features. Also includes headset jacks.
